Thank's again for previous help, looking forward to some more" Sage-Advice. Here is what I am contemplating.based on what I have experienced with reading here and elsewhere the factory gauges arn't all that accurate, whether new or original.I am somewhat of a perfectionist( I am told) and one of the most important gauges in the desert is" Temperature",sooo if the arn't accurare what good are they? I don't want to fry a 312 just because of wrong info given to driver.Has any one had any good experiences with an after-market say stewart warner or other good quality "Period correct looking"mount under dash type temp gauge that could possibly use same sending unit with minimal re-wiring performed? If so would really appreciate your input,I have gone to great pains and expense to keep this restoration all original and have a hard time making this trade-off however because of the inaccuracy of these factory gauges coupled with the difficulty of replacing the factory gauge I am ready to throw the BS-Flagg and by pass original for accuracy.Sorry for the rant but I'm guessing someone else here has faced this and come up with a better solution and I want to not have to reinvent the wheel so to speak, and would like to bennefit from someone elses experience. This weekend I was finally able to install a direct wire from sending unit to Red/White wire on back of dash gauge,No-Joy,doesn't move off cold when heated up! My consensus is the gauge is faulty.basing this on the fact.am I missing some part, I have replaced the sensor, resistor and wire to gauge/sensor. Thank's to all who replied to my post and offered your help.
